PM Interview Questions at Stripe, Airbnb, and Netflix: What to Expect in

Specific Company Deep Dives
By the Product Alliance staff

Not every great PM job is at Google, Meta, or Amazon. Companies like Stripe, Airbnb, and Netflix offer exceptional PM roles with unique interview processes that test different skills. If you are targeting companies outside the traditional FAANG group, here is what to expect.

Stripe PM Interview

Stripe's PM interview focuses heavily on analytical rigor and payments domain knowledge. Stripe builds financial infrastructure, so PMs need to understand complex systems, developer users, and global regulatory environments.

The interview process typically includes a recruiter screen, a product exercise (often take-home), and an onsite loop with product design, analytical, and behavioral rounds.

Stripe's questions tend to be more technical and domain-specific than other companies. You might be asked: "Design a fraud detection dashboard for Stripe merchants" or "How would you prioritize features for Stripe's invoicing product?" You might also face questions about API design, developer experience, and international payment challenges.

The take-home exercise is particularly important at Stripe. You will be given a product problem, typically with real data, and asked to present your analysis and recommendation. This tests both your product thinking and your ability to communicate complex ideas clearly.

Airbnb PM Interview

Airbnb's interview process reflects its culture of belonging and design obsession. The company evaluates PM candidates across product sense, analytical ability, and cultural fit through a multi-round process.

Airbnb is known for including a cross-functional interview round, where you interact with team members from design, engineering, and data science to evaluate how you collaborate. This is unique among tech companies and tests whether you can work effectively across disciplines.

Product questions at Airbnb often involve marketplace dynamics (similar to Uber, since Airbnb connects hosts and guests), travel-specific use cases, and trust and safety challenges. Examples include: "How would you improve the Airbnb search experience for first-time travelers?" or "Design a feature that increases host retention in competitive markets."

Airbnb also places a heavy emphasis on its core values, particularly "belonging." Be prepared to discuss how you create inclusive product experiences and how you have worked to understand diverse user needs.

Netflix PM Interview

Netflix's PM interview is known for testing strategic thinking and cultural alignment with the company's famous freedom-and-responsibility culture. Netflix PMs are expected to operate with high autonomy and make decisions that have significant business impact.

The interview process includes a recruiter screen, phone interviews, and an onsite loop with product, strategy, and behavioral rounds. Netflix's behavioral questions are particularly probing. They want to know how you make decisions independently, how you handle disagreement, and how you operate without extensive oversight.

Product questions at Netflix often involve content strategy, recommendation systems, user engagement, and international expansion. Examples: "How would you measure the success of Netflix's recommendation algorithm?" or "Should Netflix invest more in interactive content?"

Netflix is also known for asking questions that test your understanding of its business model and competitive position. Be prepared to discuss how streaming economics work, what drives subscriber retention, and how Netflix differentiates from Disney+, Amazon Prime Video, and YouTube.

Why Company-Specific Preparation Matters

Each of these companies has a distinct culture, product philosophy, and interview style. Generic PM interview prep will only get you so far. Understanding the specific company's products, strategy, and values is what separates good candidates from great ones.

Product Alliance's Specific Company Deep Dives course covers 22 companies beyond the core flagship courses, including Stripe, Airbnb, Netflix, Spotify, Coinbase, Tesla, and more. It includes 800+ real interview questions reported by recent candidates, updated monthly.
